Kampala, Uganda| GODFREY SSALI |  Wilson Kyambadde, husband to Amelia Kyambadde, has been committed to civil prison for six months after failing to pay a Sh1.1 billion debt. Amelia is Trade, Industry and Cooperatives Minister.

Deputy registrar in-charge of execution matters at the High Court Flavia Nassuna Matovu, ruled Monday that Kyambadde does not dispute a Commercial Court judgement that ordered him to pay the said money belonging to Amdan Khan.

It is said he conned Khan of the said money under the guise of selling him a building at Nasser road in Kampala.

The deputy registrar also noted that Kyambadde has been deliberately frustrating Amdan from enjoying the fruits of his judgement by filing several applications of stay  in court which he failed to prosecute.

Now, the court has ordered Amdan to  pay  a daily fee of sh3000 to cater for Kyambadde’s  food for the six months he will spend in prison.

Kyambadde was arrested from Old Kampala by a court baillif  Moses Kirunda as he was travelling to attend a burial.

Kyambadde is a former Kampala city mayoral contestant in the 2011 elections. He stood on the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM ) party ticket in the election that was won by Erias Lukwago.
