Landlsides submerge house in Bududa.

Bududa, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Landsides have hit Bududa district leaving hundreds of people homeless. Properties including houses, crops and even animals have been buried.

Milton Kamoti, the Bududa district LCV chairperson says that at least 50 households have been damaged and over 300 hundred people affected.

According to Samson Natsamwa, the deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Bududa district, the landslide hit Bushika sub-county, Bufutsa parish in the villages of Sihamosi Bunasa, Bukitongo, Nangwe, Namasa, Kitongo, Buhamusi and Naposhi yesterday afternoon after rains that pounded the area.

Thankfully, no life has been lost because people evacuated from their homes following the appearance of a crack.  The landslide has therefore been expected and no single person has been reported dead or missing.

Natsamwe also said the government urged people living in disaster-prone areas in the district to vacate those areas.
