Entebbe, Uganda | JULIUS BUSINGE |  Up to 1300 accountants are expected to attend the 24th ICPAU Annual Seminar from Sept.4-6 at the Imperial Resort Beach Hotel, Entebbe.

The annual seminar is the premier event for accountants in Uganda. It was inaugurated in 1995 by Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) to provide accountants with an opportunity to enrich their knowledge, in a bid to fulfill the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirement for membership enrollment and renewal.

Eng. Silver Mugisha, the managing director at National Water and Sewerage Corporation will be the keynote speaker.

The annual event comes at a time the accountancy profession is operating amidst rapid advancements in technology, social and labour mobility. It will this year run under the theme ‘maintaining a sustainable enterprise

CPAU officials said the theme will be discussed through a holistic three-dimensional approach, focusing on financial management, family and health, and business and personal growth.

Speakers for the event have been selected from the public and private sectors, including healthcare and religious institutions.

Frederick Kibbedi (CPA), the president of ICPAU said the seminar is a very important event on the accountants’ calendar.

“It is a time when we as accountants and people who drive this economy come together to look at thematic issues,” he said in a media release.

“Over the 3 days, we will be brainstorming and exchanging views on how organisations can remain relevant in this very disruptive age,” he added.
