⚽ URA vs BUL – 4pm (FUFA TV)
Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club-URA FC will face BUL FC in this year’s FUFA Super Eight final match at the MTN Omondi stadium in Lugogo.
After a nearly four-year hiatus courtesy of COVID-19, the FUFA Super 8 Tournament, which serves as a warm-up for StarTimes Uganda Premier League teams before of the new season, was reintroduced in July.
The top eight teams from last season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League competed in two separate groups, with URA and BUL FC going through to reach the final.
The tax collectors, who have gone more than seven seasons without a trophy, defeated KCCA FC 2-1 in a game played at a time when URA FC was still mourning the death of their coach Sam Timbe, who died two weeks ago.
Speaking before of the game, Muhumuza, who took over after the death of coach Timbe, said he anticipates a difficult game because it is a final, but they have prepared for everything.
“Finals are tricky games; we’ve prepared for all eventualities because we expect a tight game. BUL has won the Uganda Cup in the past three years, and we’ve won nothing. We don’t take them for granted; we’re the underdogs, but we promise to give our fans a good game on Sunday because we want to win the cup,” he said .
BUL FC became the first team to reach the final of the 2023 FUFA Super 8 after defeating SC Villa in the first semifinal at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
BUL Coach Abbey Kikomeko, stated that while URA is frequently perceived as a better team, statistics show that his team (BUL FC) is on the same level as URA, and so a tough struggle awaits.
“URA is a team that almost everybody thinks is above is but when you look at the statistics, both teams are almost at the same level. We all play in the Uganda Premier League and now we are meeting in this super eight final. The team is well motivated and ready. We have trained for a full week and everything is in high gear.” He said.
Meanwhile, before the final, there will be a third playoff match between SC Villa and KCCA FC.
According to information obtained by this website, the winners of the competition will receive 20 million shillings with the runners up walking away with 12 million shillings while the third placed team will take home 10 million Shillings.
