Four in trouble for alleged murder in Lamwo

Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson David Ongom Mudong confirmed arrest

Lamwo, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Lamwo police are holding four men for the alleged murder of a 37 year old suspect on Tuesday night. The suspects are Walter Mwaka, Charles Omal, Richard Kidega and Alex Oweka, all residents of Lagwe-dola village in Kal sub county in Lamwo district.

The suspects are accused of lynching Martin Nokrach for alleged theft of a solar panel belonging to Walter Mwaka. Secondo Komakech, an eye witness told police that the suspects arrested Nokrach and took him to Lagwe-dola village where they assaulted him to death.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson says that the homicide team visited the scene of crime and recorded statements before arresting the suspects who are currently in custody at Lamwo Central Police Station. Ongom also revealed that the deceased’s body is lying at Palabek Kal health center III pending postmortem.

He says the four suspects have been charged with murder under Lamwo 196/2021, which is contrary to section 188 and 189 of the Penal Code Act. Anybody found guilty of murder is liable to suffer death up conviction.
