Four dead, three injured in Mbale accident

Mbale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | An early morning accident in Mbale city has claimed the lives of four people and left three others nursing critical injuries. The accident occurred along Mbale-Tororo road adjacent to Mbale city bus park.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred after a speeding Fuso truck registration number UAQ 094W lost control and rammed into two boda boda cyclists killing them instantly before knocking a pick up belonging to Mbale district local government registration number UBE 669Q.

The pickup also rammed into two people seated along the road side killing them instantly. One of those dead is Tayibu Bugolo, the chairperson of Malaba stage.

Rogers Taitika, the Elgon Region Police spokesperson confirmed the accident but didn’t divulge details. Assina Musenero, an eyewitness blamed the accident on the narrow road which is further narrowed by buses that park on the roadside.

Like Musenero, the chairperson of Park Cell, Umar Wamala also says buses that park along the road cause a lot of jam, which has resulted into several accidents at the same spot.
