Former Madi Okollo MP John Arumadri Drazu is dead

Arua, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | John Arumadri Drazu, the former Madi Okollo Member of Parliament and Forum for Democratic Change-FDC stalwart is dead.

He breathed his last at his home in Anyafio cell in Arua City Central division on Thursday morning after developing breathing difficulties.

His elder son, Tony Drazu Arumadri told URN that he had just spoken to his father in less than an hour when he received a phone call from his sister indicating that their father was no more.

He explains that his father spent seven months following up his pension in Kampala and returned to Arua last month in good health.

Hajj Molly Abdul Hakim, the FDC registrar for West Nile who worked with the late Arumadri described his death as a shock, saying he will be dearly missed by FDC and the West Nile region.

He said FDC supporters will ensure that principles of true democracy and the rule of law the late Arumadri stood for are upheld.

Ambassador Harold Acemah, a former schoolmate and close friend to the late John Arumadri described his death as a big loss to the people of W. Nile and Uganda.

At the time of his death, the late John Arumadri and his family were preparing to commemorate the first anniversary of his late wife who died on October 23rd, 2020.

Arumadri passed on at the age of 71 years and will be buried close to his late wife near Ediofe in Arua City. Arumadri served as Madi Okollo MP from 2001 to 2006.

He was re-elected and went on to serve until 2011 before losing to his NRM rival, Martin Drito.
