Finally, RwandAir gets a new CEO

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | It is exactly a year since the Rwandan government fired John Mirenge as the chief executive officer of national carrier, RwandAir, replacing him with Col Chance Dergano in an acting capacity.

The good news now is that the national carrier has a substantial CEO following the appointment of Yvonne Manzi Makolo on April 06.

She takes over at the helm of the airline alongside a growing number of professional women in the country who hold similar leadership positions, the latest such appointment being that of Michaella Rugwizangoga as CEO of Volkswagen Rwanda.

Yvonne was for the past year part of the top team in the national airline, holding the position of Deputy CEO in charge of Corporate Affairs.

She takes over the mantle at the time when the airline is looking to expand their African and intercontinental destination.

RwandAir currently flies to 24 destinations in Africa, Europe and Asia, with the maiden flight to China set for June this year.
