FDC pays tribute to fallen member Adam Mulwana

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Katonga-based faction of the Forum for Democratic Change-FDC has today gathered to pay tribute to its former member Adam Mulwana who died on Tuesday morning after a long illness.

Mulwana rose to fame through his political campaign hit song ‘Toka kwa bara bara’, which became a signature song for the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and its then-presidential Candidate Dr Kizza Besigye during the 2016 General Elections.

One by one, FDC officials who took the microphone at Katonga where his body lay for final respect from colleagues, hailed the late musician for utilizing his talent to contribute to what they described as a struggle to oust the tyrant.

Former FDC Party President Dr Kiiza Besigye said that Mulwana made his mark among the nation’s liberation heroes when he decided to devote his life to the cause rather than expressing interest in the elective posts which drew many opposition wannabes. He added that while Mulwana did not attend school because his family could not afford to send him there, he was able to strive for survival and lend his voice to their long-standing struggle.

Besogye added that it is unfortunate that while Mulwana’s talent was enough to take care of his life, the state has not provided an avenue for artists to earn from their talents.

Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago urged everyone to emulate Mulwana by prioritizing the fight for the nation over allegiance to individual election candidates, noting that it is everyone’s responsibility to strive for a better country.

Lukwago cautioned politicians against exploiting the vulnerability of ailing colleagues to make controversial statements that undermine their long-term struggle. He cited the viral video of late Dokolo District Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal thanking Speaker of Parliament Anita Among and Health Minister Ruth Aceng.

Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda hailed Mulwana for choosing to channel his musical talent into the fight against Museveni’s government instead of producing love songs.

After the prayers, the body was taken to Muwlana’s ancestral grounds in Luweero District for burial.
