By Aloysious Kasoma

Opposition Democratic Party has sent a solidarity message to FDC ahead of their presidential polls due to take place on 22nd November 2012

According to Norbert Mao the party president, they received an invitation from the Forum for Democratic Change and they will honor it with a high power delegation.

“We will send FDC our solidarity naturally, it is important milestone and we welcome Besigye on stepping down” he said during the weekly press conference in Kampala.

Mao said that though Besigye will stand down it does not mean that he is gone because a politician retires from the office but not the battle.

He said that as Democratic Party they are looking forward to working with whoever is elected as a president.

He said when the party chooses a leader he’s for the whole state and also challenged the NRM ruling party to do the same.

The three FDC party presidential candidates on Monday engaged in the first ever live TV debate in the country ahead of their Thursday election.

The candidates tackled issues ranging from political transition in the country and within their own party, corruption and dependence on donors, to Uganda’s involvement in the conflicts in Somalia and Democratic Republic of Congo.
