Desh Kananura defends himself over employee’s murder

City businessman and rally driver Andrew Kananura, commonly known as Desh, has in un-sworn testimony denied allegations that he murdered one of his employees at his Panamera Bar in Naguru- Kampala.

Desh together and his brother Raymond Kananura have given un-sworn testimony maintaining that they were not involved in the alleged murder,  and learnt about it through the bouncers guarding his bar. They said the news prompted them to call Kira road police to rescue the situation.

Desh told Justice Joseph Murangira during his defence before the High Court on Thursday that he was further informed by his  bouncers that Kateregga’s death was a result of mob action that could have happened among his employees at Panamera during his absence.

Desh says he didn’t even know Kateregga very well as he has many workers and he had only worked at Panamera for 10 days.

Meanwhile his brother Raymond Kananura told court that he had no reason to kill Kateregga over sh30,000sh since by the time of the alleged incident their bar was doing well.

However prosecution contends that on September 31, 2012 at Panamera Bar, Desh, his brother Raymond Kananura and three othersCyrus Maganda, Samuel Muzolewa and Jacob Onyango beat to death Badru Kateregga, a bar attendant, over sh30,000 the deceased had received as a tip from a customer.
