Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Buganda Road Magistrates Court has issued criminal summons to two accused persons jointly charged with Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

They are David Lule also known as Selector Davie and Edward Sebufu alias Eddy Mutwe. This is the second time court is issuing criminal summons to Lule.

The two were supposed to appear before Grade One Magistrate Esther Nahilya for hearing of their case together with Julius Katongole and Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu.

However, they did not show up in court prompting the State Prosecutor Barbra Kyomugisha to ask court to issue the summons on grounds that their absence has delayed the case.

“Your Worship, we got Communication from Kyagulanyi that he is not in the country, but we haven’t received any communication on what happened to the rest of the accused persons. We pray for Criminal summons for the rest of the accused”, said Kyomugisha.

However, the lawyers representing the accused persons including Anthony Wameli and Benjamin Katana told Court that they didn’t know what had happened to Lule adding that for Sebufu he had reportedly been delayed in South Africa.

Katana pleaded with court not to issue criminal summons citing that the accused have been compliant. However, Nahilya overruled his plea.

Prosecution alleges that in July 2018, Kyagulanyi, his co-accused and others still at large at City Square in Kampala disobeyed sections five and ten of the Public Order Management Act.

The case has been adjourned to February 24th 2020.
