Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Commercial Court Registrar Vincent Mugabo has been reported missing.  Mugabo was last seen on Wednesday, according to relatives and colleagues in the judiciary.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the Judiciary has already filed a report of a missing person, indicating that the registrar has been missing for more than 48 hours. The report was filed by Judiciary spokesperson Solomon Muyita at Kampala Central Police Station on Thursday night.

“The judiciary has already filed the case. It was reported last evening by Solomon Muyita that one of their colleagues went missing since Wednesday,” Onyango said in an interview with Uganda Radio Network this morning.

Muyita in his statement at CPS reportedly said that Mugabo disappeared after handling a session at the Commercial Court. It is reported that he left both his official and private cars in commercial court parking.

“He told us that he [Mugabo] jumped on a Bodaboda to an unknown destination. The mother got concerned and informed his colleagues at work who were all unaware of his whereabouts.

According to Onyango, Police is working with other security agencies to search for the registrar.

Born on 25 December 1974, Mugabo is a career Judicial Officer. He joined the Judiciary as a Magistrate Grade One in 2000 rising through the ranks to his current posting as Deputy Registrar in charge of the Mediation Registry at the High Court Commercial Division.

He is a past president of the Uganda Judicial Officers Association, an umbrella body for all Judicial Officers in the country – a portfolio he held for four years.
