Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU) has been honoured with the Bronze Employer of the Year Award by the Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE), recognising the company’s outstanding contribution to job creation and entrepreneurship in the country.
The FUE, the officially accredited body representing Ugandan employers at the International Labour Organisation’s Annual Labour Conference, serves as the national voice of employers on key social and economic issues both locally and internationally.
CCBU, part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa group, earned the accolade following a detailed submission showcasing its employment and entrepreneurship initiatives. FUE further conducted a verification visit to confirm the company’s impact.
CCBU employs more than 1,000 permanent and fixed-term staff, along with over 400 contractors across its four plants — Namanve, Mbarara, Rwenzori, and Plastic Recycling Industries in Nakawa. Beyond direct employment, the company supports a broad network of business partners along its value chain, fostering entrepreneurship and innovation through shared resources and opportunities. This ecosystem approach helps stimulate economic growth and expand job creation across multiple sectors.
General Manager Emmy Hashakimana credited the recognition to CCBU’s commitment to its people and inclusive growth. “At CCBU, we invest in our people to foster an inclusive and thriving workplace that accelerates our growth. We attract, develop, and retain high-performing talent, empowering individuals to reach their full potential,” he said.
He added that the company’s culture of growth inspires passion, impact, and continuous learning. “Through authenticity, empathy, and collaboration, we create an environment where everyone can succeed together as a team,” Hashakimana said.
