Assailants make off with security guard’s firearm in Hoima

Hoima, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Unknown assailants have raided Kaaka Spare World shop in Hoima city and made off with a firearm belonging to a private security guard. The incident happened around 2am on Monday morning.

The private guard whose firearm was stolen has been identified as Eunice Kobusinge, 28, from Uganda Securiko limited. The guard has since been detained at Hoima city central police station. The thugs took off with an AK 47 riffle registration number 303-65793pol107928 with 2 rounds of ammunition.

Patel Sheilesh, the Director of Kaaka Spare world shop, says that he got to know about the incident when he reported for work.

Shaban Baguma, the manager of Uganda Securiko limited, says that they have since reported the matter to the police and investigations have commenced.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson says a team from the flying squad has been dispatched to hunt for the thugs.

According to Hakiza, preliminary investigations indicate that the guard was asleep on duty at the time the thugs raided the area.

This is the latest incident, in which unknown assailants have targeted security personnel for their firearms. Similar incidents have been reported in Kampala, Luwero, Mbale, Iganga, and Kaphorwa districts.
