Angudeyo re-elected UGC lady captain, Prize event set for Saturday

UBL Innovations Projects Manager, Simon Lapyem putts on Hole 18 to launch the Lady Captain’s Prize

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Over 200 golfers will compete at this weekend’s Lady Captain’s Prize at the Uganda Golf Club, a week after Wendy Angudeyo was reelected as Lady Captain for a second term.

At the Lady Captain’s Prize event, held at the end of each term, the old executive hands over to the new executive. The UGC Ladies Section held an AGM on Thursday 7th March, marking the end of the term of the Lady Captain and her team.

“I have served as UGC Lady Captain for one year so far and I am happy to have been reelected to serve for a second year. I enjoyed my first year and I have grown into the role. I am grateful to the outgoing team for all the work they put in to make my tenure a success. I will continue the good work with the new team. I invite all golfers to come and enjoy this tournament,” said Wendy Angudeyo, the UGC Lady Captain.

The new executive is composed of Wendy Angudeyo (Lady Captain), Sarah Nduhukire (Vice Lady Captain), Hon. Patience Nkunda (Secretary), Berna Musanabera (Treasurer) and Flavia Namakula (Competitions Secretary).

Speaking at a presser to confirm this weekend’s event, the UBL Innovations Projects Manager, Simon Lapyem said, ”WhiteCap Crisp congratulates Wendy and her team upon her 2nd term as Lady Captain, and as we continue to celebrate women this March, we continue to champion inclusion through supporting all the women who are breaking barriers within different sectors especially male-dominated spaces such as sports”.

This year’s UGC Lady Captain’s Prize supported by partners and sponsors, KCB Bank, Pepsi, Wandaz Products Ltd, Gorilla Heights Lodge, Case Medical Services, Kenya Airways, Orchard Interiors, WhiteCap Crisp and NBS Sport.
