Any three things we don’t know about you?

Most people don’t know I am left handed. I grew up trying to be corrected but failed.

I also love to walk barefoot. I will be wearing shoes and waiting for the time I can put them off and walk and I’ve spread this bad habit to my children.When it comes to food, am not picky. I eat anything and everything.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Everyone has an inside person that tells you that’s wrong, that’s right. Follow the person that tells you that’s right. Perfect happiness is doing what you feel is right and makes you happy however weird it is to others.

What is your greatest fear?

Dying young, this fear I acquired when I became a mother and I always think what would happen to my family if I died now.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Not speaking the truth when am angered. I fear to counterattack and I don’t open up when someone does me wrong yet I would want one to tell me if I wronged them.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

I don’t like people who don’t pay their debts even when they are able to clear them.

Which living person do you most admire?

My mother, she will take care of everything and will never complain.She is a strong woman and she’s in control of all of us. We are six but she knows what’s going on in the family of each one of us.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Shoes

So how many pairs do you have?

I can’t say. I will sound like Marie Antoinette.

What is your current state of mind?

My mind right now is like when will Ramadhan get done. Everyone will tell you we will talk after Ramadhan. I work with many Muslims. I want it to get done such that things can move; otherwise am at peace.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

People spend a lot of energy on how they look, how they dress, weight, and their skins. Vanity is overrated. You don’t need to starve yourself to death to lose weight.

On what occasion do you lie?

I found nothing wrong with lies if it could put me through that troublesome moment but my husband hates lies. He has taught me not to lie and I no longer lie. Now, I will tell the truth even if it hurts.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

I have lost too much weight. At this moment, I wish I had a little more flesh on me.

Which living person do you most despise?

Growing up I realised all humanity is equal. I’ve learnt to accept everyone the way they are. Coming from a background of the chaos of Bahima, Bairu, Bahutu and Tutsi, I’ve had enough of that.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

I like a generous and truthful man, one who is truthful in everything including a phone password.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

I would love a woman who is welcoming and free with everybody.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

My associates say I over use: sincerely speaking, in my view, and mainly

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My children are the love of my life. They are young and need this love. I also love my husband.

When and where were you happiest?

I was happiest when we were dating. We were living a real life, down in the ghetto and sometimes going without food but we were in love. We were together all the time.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Doing acrobatics

I enjoy seeing people do it but am not that flexible to try it.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I wouldn’t want to change anything on myself.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Being in position to give back to society and that’s why I studied social work and social administration.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what would it be?

Like a star in the sky that has the ability of appearing even during day.

Where would you most like to live?

I am comfortable here.  If I lived next to the River Nile such that I can hear all the sound of the birds, water flow and the frogs. I love nature.

What is your most treasured possession?

Life

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

Not having food. Waking up when you don’t know where you are going to get something to eat is total misery.

What is your favorite occupation?

I think doctors do a good job because they bring back a life. The techniques are amazing.

What is your most marked characteristic?

People say I smile a lot. They tell me to stop smiling because I have tiny eyes and when I smile, my eyes disappear.

What do you most value in your friends?

The only thing I need from friends is time. I like someone who takes their time to say hello or pay me a visit.

Who are your favorite writers?

My favorite writers are African. Ngugi waThiong’o is my best but there is this new Kenyan writer who is also amazing. He is called Michael Angeyo. I got his book from Aristoc with a funny title, ‘Jail bud’. It’s very interesting. It’s about a guy who was in jail, what he did there and how he escaped. The story is beautifully written.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Nelson Mandela. He’s the closest to us and he is the best Africa has had.

What are your favorite names?

They are surnames that are associated with society.  My name Itungo means riches. I like names that have meaning.

What is your greatest regret?

I would be ungrateful if I said I have regrets.

How would you like to die?

I would like to die at 80 years. I would like to fall sick for two days and then die in my sleep.

What is your motto?

Live and let Live. I don’t want to be someone who fails others from living their lives.
