VIDEO: Doctors threaten to strike, demand for 48 million
Kampala, Uganda | NTV UGANDA | Medical workers have threatened to take industrial action if the government does not work towards finding solutions to their grievances.
The medical workers who yesterday gathered at Mulago hospital for their annual general meeting, are demanding to have their salaries reviewed and their working conditions improved.
The doctors want senior consultants to be earning 48 million shillings per month as basic salary, with their junior colleagues earning 6.5 million shillings.
They also want the senior consultants to be entitled to a 5 bedroomed house, and 3 domestic servants.
Government has been given until the 6th of November to respond to the medical workers’ demands.
