Electricity distribution company Umeme have said investigations indicate the transformer that fell on a vehicle on Dewinton Road on Tuesday was likely tampered with.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the network may have been interfered with, causing the transformer structure to fall into the vehicle. Comprehensive investigations are still underway to establish the actual cause of this unusual occurrence,” Umeme said in a statement.

On Tuesday, a transformer near Sear Motors House in Kampala fell onto a moving vehicle , injuring driver Rose Muhinza. Umeme team rushed to the scene to save her, and removed the wreckage of Muhinza’s car, a Toyota Voxy UAT 591S.

Muhinza is admitted at Mulago Hospital.
