UDB chief Executive acquitted

By Patrick Kagenda

After a five month court battle the Anti Corruption Court sitting at Kololo a Kampala upscale area on June 30, 2014, acquitted and discharged the Uganda Development Bank Ltd (UDBL) Chief Executive Officer Patricia Ojangole who has been battling charges of conflict of interest.

Acquitting Ojangole, the presiding judge Lawrence Gidudu said prosecution (IGG) had failed to prove the charges against her beyond reasonable doubt saying prosecution had alleged that Patricia Ojangole participated in various processes and proceedings that culminated in her appointment to the position of CEO of the bank on November, 30, 2012, when she signed the employment contract but knowingly failed to disclose the nature of this interest to the board.

The Judge said that instead, prosecution evidence was in support of Ojangole and therefore had no option but to acquit her of the charges that would have attracted up to 12 years in jail on conviction.
