South Sudan’s Deng warns about arms embargo

President Museveni meets South Sudan leaders

President Yoweri Museveni has met a delegation from South Sudan led by the new Vice President Taban Deng, The Minister of Defence and Veteran Affairs kuol manyang juuk, the South Sudan Ambassador to the United Nations Akuei Bona Malwal who briefed him about the recent developments in South Sudan.

The South Sudan delegation said relative calm has returned to their country and that the parliament has reopened and is fully operational.

They said their government has embarked on a programme to implement the peace agreement and they are working on building cohesion in the Presidency and making reforms for the country.

President Museveni urged the leaders to unite and work together for peace and national development. He reaffirmed his support for the people of South Sudan and said they need peace for economic transformation and development.

The meeting took place at the sidelines of the 71st United Nations General Assembly, at the President’s residency at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York.
