Rakai, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |  Security authorities in Rakai are holding a man accused of confiscating declaration forms from the polling agents of David Mpuuga and Asha Lubyayi.

Mpuuga contested against the incumbent Boaz Kasirabo for the Kooki County NRM parliamentary ticket while Lubyayi ran against the incumbent Rakai Woman MP, Juliet Kinyamatama.

According to information obtained by our reporter, the duo’s campaign agents from Butiti, Mpaama and Nsozibiri villages in Lwanda sub-county was driving in an unspecified vehicle when they were intercepted by a group of stick-wielding men.

They asked the agents to surrender the declaration forms or else risk losing their lives. The group vanished with the declaration forms but the agents were able to identify one of them.

As a result, Gen. Elly Kayanja, who has pitched camp at the tally centre ordered the army to search for the suspects leading to the arrest of one of them. He told journalists that the conduct of the suspects is intolerable.
