President Museveni extends term of Land Probe team

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | President Museveni on Thursday renewed the Land Probe Commission’s term of Inquiry into Land Matters for another six months.

President Museveni also appointed Dr. Douglas Singiza as the Commission’s new Secretary replacing Justice Olive Kazaarwe Mukwaya who was recently appointed a Judge of the High court.

While Daniel Rutiba appointed Deputy Secretary, Susan Jagata appointed Deputy Lead Counsel and Andrew Odit appointed as the Assistant Lead Counsel of the Land Probe Commission.

According to the Commission Chair Justice Catherine Bamugemereire, the renew of the Commission’s term and the subsequent appointments were done as per Legal Notice no.6 of 2018 of the Commissions Terms of Reference.

Justice Bamugemereire pledged to uphold the mandate entrusted to them, and to do a good job that will make a lasting change in the way Land is administered, acquired, managed and registered in Uganda.

This comes at a time when the Commission’s second term of Inquiry expired on Wednesday 09 May, 2018 making it one year now since the May 09, 2017 when it was appointed by the President.
