Nile Breweries rewards active journalists

Nile Breweries in a bid to strengthen journalism reporting in the Uganda on Friday rewarded three active journalists with cash.

The Director for Corporate Affairs in Nile Breweries Francis Onapito Ekomoloit while giving out the prizes to the three lucky winners said, “We recognize not only these three who emerged as winners, but all journalists because you have been our strong partners in a country where publicity is hard to get.”


The three included; Sudhir Byaruhanga a Television journalist with NTV Uganda, Sarah Mawerere, a journalist with Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, and Petride Mudoola of the New Vision.  They were all rewarded with cash whereby Byaruhanga who emerged the overall winner received Shs1m; Mawerere got Shs500, 000 and then Mudoola Shs300, 000.

Sudhir reported a story about a female conductor in Kampala, who joined the trade after abandoning prostitution.  The lady who lives with the virus that causes Aids said in her story that she is now better than those women who engage themselves into prostitution and she hopes even excel better than that.

In the story that was replayed before guests, the lady says before I leave my house for duty I have to swallow the ARV tablets on daily basis so that I can she cannot be down with sickness.

Nile Breweries has since last year been rewarding the efforts of journalists countrywide.  “We accept nominations from all media houses on various issues that affect human beings,” said Sumin Namaganda, who is the communications Manager.
