London, England | Xinhua | Newcastle United were the biggest victims of the FA Cup third round on Saturday when they were knocked out of the tournament by third-tier League One side Sheffield Wednesday.

Josh Windass scored in the 52nd and 65th minute to give his team a win to savor against a rival that drew 0-0 away to Arsenal during the week and had only lost one game all season.

West Ham United took some revenge for their recent league defeat at home to Brentford, with a 1-0 win away to their south London rivals in the Cup.

Said Benrahma’s 79th-minute goal gave West Ham a victory that will also help coach David Moyes after recent poor results.

Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers drew 2-2 in an entertaining match, with Goncalo Guedes putting Wolves ahead before Darwin Nunez leveled for Liverpool on the stroke of halftime.

Mohamed Salah put Liverpool ahead seven minutes after the break, but Hwang Hee-chan earned a replay for Julen Lopetegui’s improving side in the 66th minute.

Premier League bottom club Southampton earned a respite from their troubles as goals from James Ward Prowse and Adam Armstrong overturned Odsonne Edouard’s 14th-minute opener for Crystal Palace and gave Saints coach Nathan Jones his first win since taking over.

Leicester City needed a 58th-minute penalty from Kelechi Iheanacho to give them a narrow 1-0 win away to fourth-tier League Two side Gillingham, while a solitary 50th-minute goal from Harry Kane was enough to see Tottenham past League One’s Portsmouth 1-0.

Marco Silva had a happy return to face his former club Hull City, as Fulham moved into the fourth round with a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Layvin Kurzawa in the 37th minute and Daniel James in the fourth minute of injury time.

World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister scored twice as Brighton claimed a convincing 5-1 win away to Middlesbrough, with Pascal Gross, Adam Lallana and Deniz Undov also scoring.

Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth were two Premier League sides to fall victim to Championship sides, with Blackpool thumping Forest 4-1 thanks to goals from Marvin Ekpiteta, Ian Carlo Poveda-Ocampo, CJ Hamilton and Jerry Yates.

Championship leaders Burnley extended Bournemouth’s miserable run with two goals each from Manuel Benson and Anass Zaroury.

Manchester United qualified for the fourth round on Friday night as Marcus Rashford helped inspire a 3-1 win at home to Everton.

The day’s biggest surprise came when fifth-tier National League outfit Wrexham won a thrilling game 4-3 away to the Championship’s Coventry City.
