Musinguzi new URA boss, Atingo-Ego BOU deputy governor

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Museveni has appointed John Musinguzi Rujoki as new Uganda Revenue Authority Commissioner General and named Dr Michael Atingo-Ego Bank of Uganda deputy governor.

Musinguzi has been presidential advisor on ICT and investment and board chairman of the National Information Technology Authority (NITA). He will replace Doris Akol, who has led the tax collectors for five years.

He holds a masters degree in computing and information systems and Bachelor of science in mathematics.

“It is with great honor that I have received the appointment as the new CG of URA . I would like to thank the Lord God Almighty for finding me worthy and His Excellency The President  for placing his trust and confidence in me to serve in this office,” Musinguzi said, adding that “It is an uphill task, but I am confident that together with the upright team at URA, we shall deliver our mandate.”

President Museveni also forwarded details of Dr Michael Atingo-Ego to Parliament for vetting as Deputy Governor, Bank of Uganda. Atingo-Ego will replace Louis Kasekende whose contract was not renewed when it expired recently.

“By virtue of powers granted to me by the Constitution, I have appointed Mr John Musinguzi Rujoki as the new Commissioner General of URA This appointment takes immediate effect,” President Museveni said, adding that “I have also appointed Dr Michael Atingi-Ego as the new Deputy Governor, Bank of Uganda. I have forwarded his name to Parliament for vetting.”

Atingi-Ego has previously served as  Deputy Director, International Monetary Fund, Africa Department.  He also served as Executive Director for Research at Bank of Uganda, 2005-2008 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, MSc, Econ and PhD, Econ.
