General Gregg Mugisha Muntu, the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT presidential candidate

Mbale, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT | General Gregg Mugisha Muntu, the Alliance for National Transformation-ANT presidential candidate has promised to improve the housing sector in Mbale city.

Muntu, who is canvassing support in Bugisu region for his presidential bid, made the pledge while meeting voters in BCU quarters in Namatala ward in Mbale City’s Industrial Division on Sunday.

He asked the residents to vote for him to improve on the poor structures they are currently occupying. According to Muntu, most of the Municipalities that were elevated to city status are cities in name and their physical setting and the people’s status.

Mbale is one of the cities that has a huge challenge of slums. Prior to going to his campaign venue, Muntu went through Namatala Ward, one of the biggest slum areas in Mbale City.

He also told voters to elect someone who cares about their wellbeing and a government that will create jobs for them to earn money and build better houses.

Some of the residents tasked Muntu to restore the enterprises that were disposed of by the incumbent government under the leadership of President, Yoweri Museveni.

Vincent Musaalo, a resident of Namatala ward in Mbale city, said they would like the next president to revive Rafiki Soap factory, African Textiles Mill, Bugisu Cooperative Union and Dairy cooperation, which he said used to employ many people.

The party regional coordinator, Zenubia Namutamba, Mbale Mbale city ANT Chairperson, Richard Mabonga and industrial City Division ANT parliamentary candidate, Michael Musaalo hosted Muntu in Mbale.

Today, Muntu heads to Bududa, Manafwa and Namisindwa districts.
