MTN Uganda chairman pays tribute to late Tooro King Oyo

Fort Portal, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | MTN Uganda Board Chairman Charles Mbire has paid tribute to the late King of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, describing his passing as a great loss to the Kingdom of Tooro and the country.

Mr. Mbire visited the King’s residence in Buziga, Kampala, on Thursday to pay his respects to the royal family and the people of Tooro.

“On behalf of the MTN Uganda Board, management and staff, I extend our deepest condolences to the royal family, the people of Tooro and all Ugandans. King Oyo diligently carried the hopes of his people, and his passing is a great loss to the nation,” he said.

MTN Uganda has worked closely with Tooro Kingdom under the stewardship of King Oyo, supporting initiatives in youth, sports, health, education and community development.

This partnership with the Kingdom of Tooro reflects MTN Uganda’s commitment to working with cultural institutions to advance inclusion, talent development and progress in communities.

Mr. Mbire announced that MTN Uganda will be contributing Ush 100m through the National Organizing Committee, to support preparations for the King’s interment.

MTN pledged to continue its partnership with the Obukama of Tooro to support the initiatives the King so passionately championed.
