Lord Mayor Lukwago returns to office.

By Ian Katusiime

On March 31, early morning at around 9:00 am, Kampla Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago  drove through the gates of City Hall en route to his office at City Hall uninterrupted for the first time since November when a botched impeachment KCCA counsellors’ session kicked him out of office. This was preceded by a court ruling which stated that Lukwago had the right to be office until the case is fully disposed of in court.

The Lord Mayor entered his office gleefully after calling for a sheikh to lead prayers before he resumes his duties. Lukwago made his way to office amid tight security and his entourage were all subjected to thorough security checks.

A horde of his supporters were gathered around City Hall shouting chants “Omuloodi waffe!” as the chubby cheeked Lukwago waved back and smiled.

Meanwhile hardly had Lukwago settled comfortably in his office when news came in that Peter Sematimba had won the NRM primaries for the Kampala Mayoral election that is to take place in the near future.
