Matia Kasaija, the minister for Finance and Evelyn Anite, the minister of State for Privatisation and Investment are locked in disagreement over the appointment of the Chairperson of Uganda Electricity Generation Board (UEGCL).

Kasaija appointed Frank Katusiime to the post on Nov 9 but Anite preferred Eng. Proscovia Njuki and appointed her on Nov 11.

The post fell vacant after Stephen Isabalija the then Chairperson was appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development.

Both ministers claim they made the appointments after several consultations and recommendations from relevant stakeholders.

However it is not clear why the ministers are keen on the appointment since UEGCL does not fall under their ministry.
