Kakumiro boda boda rider murdered in cold blood

Kakumiro, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A 27 year old boda boda rider in Kakumiro district has been murdered in cold blood.

The deceased has been identified as Jackson Tumusiime, a boda boda rider at Kikwaya trading center in Kikwaya sub county, Kakumiro district. The incident happened on Saturday night.

It is alleged that yet unknown people, disguised as clients approached Tumusiime to take them to a yet unknown destination on Saturday night at around 8pm

However, Tumusiime’s colleagues waited for him to return in vain, a thing that caused suspicion amongst the riders.

Albertine police spokesperson Julius Hakiza

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson told Uganda Radio Network on Sunday afternoon that Tumusiime’s lifeless body was discovered in the morning lying in a pool of blood by the road side in Kihaanga village, Kikwaya sub county in the same district.

He says preliminary police investigations indicate that the assailants hit him severally on the head using a hammer before dumping his body. Police also recovered the hammer his killers are believed to have used to end his life.

Hakiza says the yet to be identified assailants also made off with his motorcycle registration number UEY 391Z Bajaj.

According to Hakiza, the body was discovered by passersby who later alerted police.

Police rushed and picked the body that was later taken to Kakumiro health center IV for postmortem.

Hakiza says police have launched investigations into the brutal murder of Tumusiime, adding that once the suspects are arrested, they will be charged with murder.

The incident comes barely two weeks after two boda boda riders in Kagadi were also brutally murdered and their motorcycles taken by their killers.

The boda boda riders were identified as Maliko Byaruhanga and Adolf Byamukama, both boda boda riders in Kagadi town.

The duo was allegedly hired by unknown people on March 18, 2021 from their stage in Kagadi town.

The assailants later turned against them and strangled them to death.

Their lifeless bodies were discovered by residents on March 19, 2021, dumped in a swamp in Kigangaizi cell, Kagadi town council.
