The Independent to deliver through The ONEm Global Platform Local Ugandan News to The World

The Independent has reached an agreement with ONEm to offer news on the ONEm platform for readers in Uganda and the rest of the World.

ONEm will provide a platform for non-internet users on their phones to read different content from The Independent.  News content will be available through SMS and audio for thousands through partner mobile operators.

The Independent is joining big content providers like Reuters and Al Jazeera each with their own special way to deliver rich content to their target readers.

The CEO Christopher Richardson said, “It’s not going to be the news as usual that you can get from anywhere about Uganda. ONEm will present a unique format.  We will emphasize The Independent Uganda’s News Analysis and insights from popular columnists, Andrew Mwenda, David Birungi, Joseph Were, Kavuma Kaggwa, Peter Nyanzi and Yoga Adhola.”

The Founder and Managing Director Andrew Mwenda said, “This is an exciting opportunity for Uganda’s leading publication with ONEm. We will continue to grow our wide readership”.

The Independent Uganda is the home of cutting edge opinion and analysis and all Ugandan News.

ONEm is a plug and play service for Mobile Operators.  ONEm delivers an ecosystem of rich interactive content on any ordinary mobile device without the need for data, no downloading or updating and no change for the user nor the Mobile Operator’s network.

This partnership allows people without smartphones or internet access to still access online news content through SMS and audio on any type of mobile phone.
