Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Federation of Uganda Football Association ( FUFA ) has suspended assistant referee Jane Mutonyi for one month from officiating football.

FUFA referee disciplinary panel chairperson, Ali Tomusange in a statement says it found that her advice to the referee Nkurunziza George for cancellation of a goal scored by Police FC was ill-advised.

Jane Mutonyi advised center referee George Nkurunziza not to allow an 84th minute goal by Herman Wasswa, claiming that the ball had passed out before the player scored. That however drew reactions from Police FC players who believed the ball was still on.

According to the committee, Mutonyi  lacked concentration while taking the decision and subsequently ill-advised the referee. Her decision, according to the committee affected the outcome of the match. So the committee sanctioned her with a one-month suspension from football officiating.

The game ended 3-1 in favor of the home team Wakiso Giants. Mutonyi is among FIFA Ugandan international referees for 2021 approved by FIFA referees committee on 17th December 2020.
