Corruption could resurrect rebellion – Mao

Opposition Democratic Party has revealed that the current corruption scandals in the Office of the Prime Minister could resurrect the spirit of rebellion in northern Uganda.

According to Norbert Mao the party president, corruption will create another Joseph Kony in northern Uganda if it is not condemned.


“An apology is not enough, parliament should stop barking and start biting corruption or it will create another Joseph Kony” he said during the weekly press conference in Kampala

“I come from the north if the youth find out that their money was stolen, these were rebels for them they don’t strike they get guns” he added

Mao said that corruption has got serious security implications and the responsibility is now assigned to the President to start acting.

Mao commended the activities of the DP youth wing, Uganda Young Democrats on fighting corruption.

“DP fully supports the activities of the UYD to stick to peaceful demonstration, it is a national cause but not a DP cause it is for all Ugandans” he said

He said that the greatest impact on the youth is corruption and called upon UYD to stand firm and stick to moral values because the country is in need of change.
