Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Buganda kingdom has donated 0.07 acres of land valued at Shillings 400m to Nansana municipality in Wakiso district for the construction of a health center IV in Nakkuule ward.

The kingdom second deputy premier and finance minister Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa handed over the land title to Regina Bagitte Nnakazzi, the mayor of Nansana municipality on behalf of the Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga.

The proposed health center IV will replace Nakkuule health center II. Construction of the health center valued at Shillings 11 billion will jointly be financed by Nansana rotary club, the community and other partners.

The Nansana Rotary Club President Geoffrey Hairora said the health center IV will comprise among others two operation theatres, a 20 bed children’s ward, a 40-bed maternity ward, a 20-bed male ward, 20-bed female ward and two modern laboratories.

He says the Nansana Rotary club was prompted to help construct the health facility by the big number of people who usually turn up whenever they organize medical camps.

Regina Bakitte Nalongo, the mayor of Nansana municipality says that this is an opportunity to improve health service delivery to the people of the municipality who have all along been depending on the health center II, which has since been phased out by the government.

Bakitte says that in addition to lack of specialized health workers like opticians and dentists among others, a patient that shows up for services like minor surgery at Nakkuule health center II would either have to travel to Kampala or Bombo military hospital which is far away.

She commended Nansana rotary club for the routine medical camps from which Rotarians developed the idea of elevating Nakkuule health center II to a health center IV.

In his message read for him by Nsibirwa, the Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga expressed concern over many newly built health facilities which lack necessities like equipment, medical personnel and drugs.

He has challenged the Rotary club of Nansana to ensure that they don’t not only construct a modern facility but also equip it with all the necessities.
