Austrian Government to continue supporting Uganda

The Austrian Ambassador to Uganda, Gudrun Graf says Austria would continue with those efforts in the area of water and sanitation in Uganda and informed of the European Union grant of 30 million Euros for the provision of safe water where government of Uganda and the EU have asked Austria to help in the implementation of the project which will start in November 2012.


In the press release by The Media centre, She made this remarks on Wednesday while meeting with the state Minister for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Affairs Henry Okello Oryem.

Okello Oryem hailed the government of Austria for being very instrumental in contributing towards the provision of piped water to Uganda.

Minister Okello Oryem in his statement noted that, “The Austrian government has supported the peace talks between the Government of Uganda and the Lord’s Resistance Army rebels which contributed to the peace process in Northern Uganda.”

She lauded Uganda for maintaining the peace and security citing Somalia as an excellent example.  Okello Oryem assured the envoy that Uganda remains committed to her role aimed at creating a secure and a stable region that is conducive for all her peoples and explained why Uganda is in Somalia and her current role in the mediation efforts under the ICGLR region process, aimed at finding a comprehensive and lasting solution to the conflict in the Eastern DR Congo.
