Another man killed in Luwero

Luwero, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Another man has been killed in Luwero town council. Arafat Muniina, 32, a resident of Kasoma zone in Luwero town council was killed by unknown people on Thursday.

Abdul Tamuzadde the LCI Chairperson of Kasoma Zone explains that unknown thugs attacked Muniina a casual labourer at around midnight on Thursday and cut his throat and head. The deceased was living alone in a single room.

Tamuzadde says that the neighbors heard screams but feared coming out only to find him dead on Friday. Tamuzadde alerted Luwero Central Police Station which deployed a sniffer dog to trace the killers in vain.

Achileo Kiregeya the Galuwero Parish Councillor says that the killers did not rob any property which indicates that it was a planned murder but the motive is not yet established.

“We have transferred the body to Luwero hospital for postmortem as the hunt for killers goes on,” Lule said.

This is the second case of murder within a period of a week in Luwero District. On Friday last week, Nathan Ssebugulu a teacher at Mulusa Academy in Wobulenzi town was found dead.

It is alleged that Ssebugulu was waylaid by unknown attackers who first tied his hands with ropes and strangled him. It’s suspected that the assailants targeted his life because they left the body lying next to his motorcycle.

According to the Police report, 58 people were murdered in 2022 in Luwero and the district ranked eighth in the country with the highest number of homicide cases.
