Tunis, Tunisia | NEWS CORRESPONDENT |  South Africa will defend their continental supremacy as a record-breaking field of 17 nations gathers at the La Forêt Golf Course in La Soukra for the 2026 All Africa Team Championship (AATC).

Uganda, coached by Flavia Namakula, will comprise Godfrey Kambale, Amon Bwambale, Shaka Kariisa and Anthony Otukei

The Africa Golf Confederation (AGC) officially announced Tunisia as the host destination for the biennial showpiece, which has drawn the largest field in the tournament’s history. Despite late logistical withdrawals from Tanzania and Sierra Leone, the 17-nation turnout stands as a historic milestone for the development of African amateur golf.

The elite field to compete from 14th to 17th Oct in a 54-hole stroke play team championship, features a diverse contingent from across the continent, including Algeria, Botswana, Cameroon, Egypt, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Mauritius, Morocco, Réunion, Seychelles, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and the host nation, Tunisia.

The incoming field will look to challenge the historic dominance of South Africa, who captured their 12th continental crown at the previous championship in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe in 2024.

With a historic number of nations represented on the leaderboard and top-tier amateur talent arriving in La Soukra, this year’s tournament is on track to be one of the most competitive iterations in AGC history
