Kamwenge, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Suspected rebels of the Allied Democratic Forces-ADF have killed three people in Kamwenge district. According to Kamwenge Resident District Commissioner, Isiah Kanyamahane Byarugaba, the suspected rebels raided Nyabitutsi village in Businge parish, Kamwenge sub-county on Christmas night and torched a house in which, three people died.

The dead include Adrine Ngwabiiji 78 and her two grandchildren who are yet to be identified. The attackers made off with ten goats and five cows.

Byarugaba explained that residents have teamed up with the Uganda People’s Defense Forces-UPDF to track down the killers.

The attack comes almost a week after suspected ADF rebels killed 10 people around the Kibaale forest. The victims were watching over their crops to protect them from being destroyed by monkeys when they were killed.

In his message condemning the incident, president, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni said the attack was conducted by 4 killers believed to be the remnants of the Njovu-Kamusu group of 10 that entered Uganda from DRC Congo, some weeks ago.

“They had crossed back to Congo but came back.  They are the group that killed the children of Nyabugaando School, killed the two tourists and their driver, and burnt the onion truck,” he said.
