60 passengers survive bus accident in Mpigi

Traffic police officers exermine the bus which overturned at Katende in Mpigi

Mpigi, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT  |  At least 60 passengers have narrowly escaped death following an accident along Kampala-Masaka road.

The accident occurred on Tuesday at Katende in Mpigi District when a bus belonging to Star Link Bus Company registration number UAS 177E which was heading to Kampala City from Mbarara lost control and overturned. 

Katonga region police spokesperson Joseph Turya says that some passengers who included children escaped with minor injuries while about twenty have been admitted at Double Cure medical centre in Mpigi town with serious injuries. 

Some of the survivors said that the driver of the bus was over speeding when he suddenly lost control and veered off the road overturning several times.
