Kololo SSS accuse Sudhir before Land Probe Commission

Sudhir Ruparelia

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | The Chairman Academics, Welfare and Disciplinary Committe of Kololo Senior Secondary School Reverand Canon John Awodi has accused Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia’s Kampala Parents Primary School of grabbing their Land.

Canon Awodi who is also a member of the School Board, told the Land Probe Commission chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemereirwe that the disputed land is on plots 60-68 along Lugogo by Pass in Kampala, and houses the school sports field.

Canon Awodi said without their knowledge and consent, on March 11, 2013 Sudhir Ruparelia wrote to the Uganda Land Commission applying for their land claiming he was the sitting tenant, having used it for seven years for his school’s recreation purposes.

However Canon Awodi presented before the commission two letters that show that between January 05, 2011 and March 21, 2012 Kampala Parents School had been hiring their field for recreation purposes, at sh200,000.

He said the school was then surprised to see a letter from Sudhir claiming ownership and asking them to sign a memorundamn of understanding detailing how Kololo was going to use its land it has been owning since 1954.

Canon Awodi implored the Commission to cancel Sudhir’s title and give Kololo SS back its land, while Uganda Land Commission should be reminded of its obligation towards holding Government Land in public trust.

In the same way the Head Teacher of Kololo Senior Secondary School, Edward Kanoonya testified to this effect, and informed the Land Probe Commission that his School has a population of 3003 students that need to use their sports field, but Kampala Parents Primary School has since fenced it off and put it under tight security.
