Kigali, Rwanda | THIS WEEK |  In an effort to promote Rwanda as a conference hub, a South African firm, Crystal Events Africa,  has entered into an   agreement with Ikaze Professional Conference Organisers  to market the east African country as a top conferences centre and must-visit tourist destination on the continent.

“The main purpose of the partnership is to encourage global companies and organisation to hold conferences in Rwanda and Africa, generally as well as to create awareness about Rwanda’s tourist attractions and its potential as a tourist destination on the continent,” Tes Proos, the founding partner of Crystal Events Africa, said.

She said the local tourism sector has the potential to attract more tourists and related businesses and thus contribute to job-creation and economic development.

Rwanda Development Board projects the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events and Exhibitions (MICE) to contribute $64 million this year, up from the $47 million in 2016.

  1. Good luck promoting tourism. We visited Rwanda last month as tourists, but our cabin room was robbed. We have been trying, unsuccessfully, to get reimbursed by lodge. If you want to promote tourism, you need to make our safe for tourists, and learn about consumer service.
Our worst fears were realized. I’d advise against visiting…nor sure it’s safe. Also, Jr. League businesses that do not protect their patrons.

  2. We were robbed of our material goods, cash, passports, vacation days as we had to spend days getting new passports, visas, etc.. Company agreed to reimburse us, but reneged on that.
