Abuja, Nigeria | THE INDEPENDENT | President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni are in Abuja on a visit to Nigeria.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari held a Friday afternoon meeting with visiting Uganda President Museveni hours after Janet Museveni was hosted by Aisha Buhari.

According to Infoafriq.com, Aisha Buhari spoke glowingly of Janet Museveni, who doubles as Minister of Education and Sports, saying they share a common vision for women and children.

“Aisha Buhari restated her resolve to change the negative outcomes associated with women and children in Nigeria through activities that have direct impact on their livelihood, especially in the area of health, empowerment and education,” reported infoafriq.com.

“Some of these programmes include screening of more than 20,000 women for medical conditions involving cervical cancer, hypertension, and diabetes. Through my mobile outreach programme we also provide essentials medical services in all six geopolitical zones of the country.”

Museveni, 73 today, also met Buhari, 74, in a closed door meeting later in the day.

Buhari has spent much of the year in a London hospital with an undisclosed illness.

The government maintains he is back to full health, and in charge at work, although he has kept a low profile since returning from the British capital last month.
