EntebbeUganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Uganda Police have blocked a planned procession from Entebbe airport to Kampala by MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Kampala Police spokesperson Emellian Kayima said they are “having a conversation” with Bobi Wine to ensure he does not travel in a procession which they say will lead to traffic management problems on Entebbe road. Bobi Wine returned from a trip to New York Friday in the early afternoon, was detained for hours, before being let to go home about 8pm.

Police refuted social media reports he had been arrested. Other reports indicated Police had also questioned Bobi Wine about statements he made in the past week related to the controversial “Age Limit” debate.

At the airport, Bobi Wine emerged with the red headband that opposition members unveiled after parliament was adjourned on Thursday.

Parliament on Thursday deffered the “Age Limit” debate, on proposals to change the constitution and lift the age limit for the presidency, to next week.

Kayima said on twitter that, “The Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, wants to address gatherings and come in a procession. The Police are having conversation with him to defer that. We hope he will see our point of view and comply to avoid unnecessary and unplanned traffic management which can result in chaos and disorder plus crime from other characters than might exploit that.

Bobi Wine was out of the country when parliament considered the “Age Limit motion”. He tweeted a photograph of himself standing on top of his car soon after arriving from abroad.
