Today Equity Bank signed a partnership agreement with the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) to enable clients pay water bills at any of the bank’s branches across the country. This is one of the bank’s ways to maintain customer loyalty in an increasingly competitive business environment.
Upon paying the water bill at any Equity bank branch, the money will instantly be credited to the NWSC account and the customer will get instant feedback by SMS from NWSC.
All the customer needs to do is to carry their water bill account number and walk into any Equity bank branch and make payments. Francis Mills-Robertson, managing director, Equity bank Uganda Limited said the e-water payment is very convenient and the partnership with NWSC is indicative of bank’s the fastest growth.
Eng Alex Gisagara, chief manager engineering services at NWSC who represented NWSC managing director at the partnership signing ceremony, said partnering with commercial banks like Equity will help complement NWSC’s service to the over 300,000 customers the agency serves.
Several other banks are stepping in to make it easier for their customers to pay utility bills conveniently and efficiently by striking partnerships with utility providers.
Equity Bank Uganda opened shop in 2008 after taking over the Uganda Microfinance Limited. The bank currently has over 480,000 customers in Uganda.
