The tendency by the young generation to think it is too early to think about what their life will be like is common but the problem usually lies in the lack of knowledge on what he or she wants in life.
“It is common to meet a young adult living a purposeless life, many live a life without a goal. Living simply because they were born,” Samuel Tumusiime points out in his book Together for the upright generations.
The book looks at issues many of which we have read time and again in the media that are derailing the young generation, things like cross generation and its part in HIV/AIDS, the silent tormentors that are often left to thrive thinking of them as harmless and all the many habits the young adult indulges in and how they are hindering the progress of many.
To see an upright generation, there is need to deal with not just the mindset but also the vices. A good starting point that he highlights is goal setting, how it is the key in achieving what one wants and a great way of saving time and eliminating the try-and-error.
Employing the SMART strategy, he gives guidelines on setting goals.
Together for upright generations is a guide for the young and food for thought for the old, he challenges the young person to think about and work on the different attitudes that may be holding them hostage and to help sketch action points to fight towards noble goals so that upright generations can be realized.
