Germany suspends aid to Uganda

Germany has finally followed suit in suspending it’s proposed on budget support to Uganda after several withdrawals from donor countries under the Joint Budget Support Framework (JBSF).

The German Government, as other development partners was appalled by the level of the recent mishandling of development partners' funds in the Office of the Prime Minister.

The government of Germany committed a total of EUR 120 million, out of which up to EUR 24 million were allocated to budget support.

 

The suspension affects the aid disbursement of 3 million Euros which was set to be ready in December 2012.

At the same time, Germany has decided to suspend planning of the new budget support commitments for the new programming period of Ugandan-German development co-operation of (2013-2016).
