Kiprotich Promoted to Superintendent

Stephen Kiprotich 23, the 2012 London marathon Olympic Gold winner was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) from warden officer.

Kiprotich who is employed by Uganda Prisons was in group 1 and was promoted among other 32 officers at Luzira Prisons on Friday 7th September 2012.

Recently Uganda Prisons service spokesperson  Frank Baine said that Kiprotich who currently works as a warder with prison services is to get a promotion probably to either a rank of a corporal or Commissioner General level.

 

Kiprotich  joined the prison’s service in 2008 went to the Olympics and managed to scoop the second gold medal in 40 years at the Olympics since Akii Bua and Uganda's only gold medal this year at the London Olympics.

Recently Kiprotich has received over sh300m from several contributors including President Museveni, who ordered State House to write a cash cheque of sh200m to be handed over to him during a ceremony to congratulate him held at State House.

Yes, all Ugandans were elated by Kiprotich's performance and he deserves he accolade he received but to promote him within a service that demands professionals be highly qualified before becoming a Superintendent, is utter arrant nonsense. This is classic Uganda today where low expectation mentality and mediocrity seem to thrive.
