Government has been urged to celebrate days that reflect Uganda’s history and abandon others that make little or nonsense.
Addressing a weekly news conference at the party head offices in Kampala today, Mathias Nsubuga the secretary general of the Democratic Party said days like March 1, every year should be marked on the national calendars and be celebrated.
Nsubuga said on March 1, 1962 is a day when Uganda was given self internal governance taking over the colonial masters and DP’s Ben Kiwanuka was declared Prime Minister of Uganda.
“This is an important day in Uganda’s history and should be celebrated always,” Nsubuga said
He added that celebrating the Tarehe sita on Feb. 6 (the army day) and the January 26 the NRM’s day was not any better than marking a day when Uganda attained self internal government.
