Sports sector gets boost from Germany

The German Embassy handed over a five month scholarship award to Loyce Nahwera an athlete trainer to enable her enhance her skills in Leipzig University.

While handing over the award to Nahwera at the German Embassy in Kampala, Klaus Dieter Duxmann the German Ambasador said she will be a great asset to future sports development in Uganda because she is going to be equipped and she will in turn coach sportsmen when she comes back to the country.

German sports expert Gunter Lange says developing sports in a country is quiet a challenge and it involves many steps at a time for the sector to grow.  German has always supported Ugandan sports. In May 2011 the government donated an electronic time measurement system worth 62 million to the Uganda Athletic Federation in addition to the regular donations of sports material and equipment to schools

Dominic Otuchet, the President of Uganda Athletics Federation said they will continue to extend gratitude to the ambassador and Germany for the consistent support to the sector
